How to Create a Campaign with a WhatsApp templated message?

In this article, you will learn how to use WhatsApp templates in a campaign. WhatsApp is a powerful channel that supports rich content, but it comes with restrictions on the type of messages you can send.

Before you start

Before creating a campaign, ensure you have an approved WhatsApp template message in your account. Meta reviews the content of your message, and if it aligns with their terms, they will approve it. For more information on how to request a WhatsApp template, click here.

Steps to use WhatsApp templates in a campaign

  1. Create a new campaign:
Open the Campaigns application and start creating a new campaign. Make sure to select WhatsApp as the channel.

  2. Select a message template:
In the second step of the campaign creation process, you will see a dropdown labeled Message template. This dropdown contains all the approved and supported templates requested via the Channels app. Select the template you’d like to use.

  1. Fill in variables and media components:
Once you select a template, input fields will appear for every variable and media component you’ve added to the template. You can:

    • Link these fields to a variable using {}.

    • Add a link or page to the fields.

Important: Ensure that all fields are filled for each recipient. If any field is left empty, Meta will reject the message.

  2. For carousel templates:
If you’re using a carousel template, you’ll see a separate tab for each card. Switch between the tabs to fill in the correct data for each card.
