How long a dossier remains visible and accessible in Sign by CM.com depends on how it was sent and whether the Archive feature is enabled.
Dossiers sent via the dashboard
-
Validity: 90 days from the date the sign request is sent. After this period the dossier expires and can no longer be signed.
-
Extension: The dossier owner receives a notification before expiry. The dossier can be extended by 30 days.
-
After extension: If not extended again, the dossier is retained for a further 45 days, then permanently deleted.
Dossiers sent via the API
-
Validity: Default is 30 days, but a custom period between 1 and 90 days can be set.
-
After expiry: The dossier is kept for 45 days, then permanently deleted.
Archive feature
When the Archive feature is enabled (available for both dashboard and API customers), the following applies:
-
Pending: Documents remain pending until the validity period expires, then are kept for 45 days before deletion.
-
Completed: Completed dossiers remain visible in the overview for the duration of the validity period. Once that period ends, the dossier is moved to the archive.
-
Declined: Declined documents are retained for 45 days after expiry, then deleted. They are not archived.
Signed documents and audit reports are also sent to you by email. You can use these as your own copies regardless of retention periods in the platform.
