Inbound calls

To start receiving inbound calls, you will need a DDI number. Please visit the numbers page in the Voice Management app for more information about numbers.

Setup

Please follow these steps to set up inbound calling:

  1. In order to receive incoming calls on one your DDI numbers, we need to know to which IP address(es) we should route incoming calls to. We call this a 'Distribution Group'. You can create a distribution group by going to our Voice Management app.

  1. Click on 'Distribution Groups' in the menu on the left. This will open the Distribution Group overview:

  1. In the 'Application Configuration' window, select SIP Trunking for regular incoming calls to your phone system. You can also select how we should route calls to your IP addresses. If you have multiple IP addresses we can route:

  • Round Robin: We equally distribute incoming calls to the IP addresses in your Distribution Group

  • Fail-over: We first try to route to the first IP address in your Distribution Group. If that IP is not available, we try the next, and so on.

FAQ

Why don't I receive calls on my numbers?
  1. Inbound number (DID) not bound to correct Distribution Group Check your Distribution Group IP address settings in Voice Management App.

  2. Firewall or PBX not configured for CM inbound trunk IP addresses Inbound traffic is routed from our dedicated inbound platform. Please allow incoming traffic from the IP’s shown in your techform.

  3. No correct response to SIP OPTIONS keep alive messages
When making an inbound call to the number hosted with CM and if a triple tone is received with a message stating that the numbered dialed is not available it could be that your PBX is not correctly responding to our SIP OPTIONS keep alive messages.

Our inbound platform is sending these keep alive messages which need to be acknowledged by a 200 OK from the customer PBX instance. These message are sent from [email protected] and polling is performed every 60 seconds.
This is the principle by which our gateways check if the customers endpoint is available.

After updating your config/firewall, please wait 3-5 minutes before retesting since our platform requires a successful response in order to resume inbound call delivery.

  4. Inbound number format
We route inbound calls towards the customer endpoint in E.164 format including the "+" symbol.
